I spent the entire weekend in continuous denial of the season. I like to be wishful in the way I dress sometimes. Instead of dressing appropriately for the weather, I occasionally dress for the weather I wish it to be outside. Unfortunately, the weather does not always fall in line with my wishing.
I went walking on Saturday, hoping to take some photos around Toluca Lake as I have previously done in the other seasons: the Autumn leaves, the (somewhat) Fall colors, the Spring blooms, the palm trees on a sunny, blue-skied day.
I never realized how sad Winter is until I walked through a neighborhood usually abundant with flowers, only to find this one lonely little Camellia. I set off in search of flowers again on Sunday, only to find a few more, but they were scarce.
The few flowers that I did find however, reminded me that there is hope and that without the darkness we can’t truly appreciate the light. Maybe there is room for a little wishful thinking after all.
Spring, I can’t wait to see you!
Here is some of the beauty I found on this rather grey weekend.
