Recently, a friend asked me if I plucked my eyebrows. Later I thought about it and started to get insecure. I kept thinking, “Why did she ask me that? Are they awful? Should I be doing something different?” Now had she asked this question at the end of last year, I am sure I would not have taken this question to heart and I would not have overanalyzed. What she didn’t know was, I lost my tweezers a few months ago and I have been meaning to buy a new pair. So I am obviously a little sensitive to whether or not my eyebrows look presentable because I have not been doing anything to them!
Being blonde, I have never really needed to do too much to my eyebrows. I have never really worried about them at all actually. Except for this one time in high school where I got insecure and tried to shave them… Any teens out there reading, NEVER DO THIS. But in recent years, with the heavy, darker eyebrow trend coming into fashion, I always wonder if I should be doing something more. There have been times when I have put makeup on for weddings and in photos, my eyebrows have been completely washed out. So I will occasionally out just a tad of pencil to darken them. But that and the tiniest pluck (usually about 5 hairs) is all I really do.
Last week, at lunch the topic of “Eyebrows” came up again and another friend said in response to mine being thin and light, “Yeah, you have to do something about them!’ So, I am starting to wonder if I should just keep with the un-plucked look I have currently as they look pretty manicured naturally. Or do I pluck, tidy them up and in turn make them even thinner than they already are? Or finally, do I darken them and make them more noticeable and dramatic?
Obviously, I will do whatever I feel most comfortable with but I am curious, what do you think? What are your favorite eyebrow trends or tips? To be clear, I am never going to follow trends like braiding, brightly colored or feathered eyebrows. Good on anyone who can pull off those trends but for me, the more natural the better. However, as I am not a beauty expert by any standard and I would love to know more on what you beauty experts out there think on the topic of eyebrows.
