Kitchens can get messy and honestly, in the past 6 months I have noticed myself getting messier than usual. Mainly because I cook a lot and I don’t have a dishwasher. But, I have definitely also gotten a little more lazy too. I tend to be a more tidy person when I am on top of life and when I am held accountable. For example: when friends come over, someone is staying with me or the parents come to town. UGH!
One thing that is a disadvantage for me is that I have a tiny kitchen and it is kind of shabby. It has old wooden shelves and a very ugly tile counter. There really isn’t much I can do with it as I am renting. I do my best to keep it clean, but with limited storage space and as it looks straight from the 70s (and not in a good way), it just always looks a mess to me. I have found when I have a bright and shiny kitchen, I am more likely to keep it bright and shiny.
Whenever I am at my parent’s house for example, I see a smudge on the counter or some crumbs from english muffins by the toaster and I have an urge to clean it straight away. I am sure my Mum would chime in now and say I do not clean it as well as she would like, but she is probably right. I am sure most of us can say that we will never be able to clean as well as our Mothers. (My Father however is a different story, he usually tries to clean up and just moves the mess around in circles resulting in a bigger mess.)
Anyway, I started stalking white, minimalist kitchens and dreaming of how lovely it would be to have a spotless kitchen. Where one tiny spot of mess would ruin the entire kitchen. I know it sounds probably like more work in theory but I prefer to be held accountable so I am forced to keep things in order. So here is some kitchen porn to inspire us all. What I wouldn’t give for some of these pretty, clean, white kitchens.
